Ask a Melbourne buyer where to find a new Porsche or a demonstrator Lexus, and most will point to one or two famous strips. The reality is messier and, for a buyer willing to drive a bit, more useful: the city's prestige brands are scattered from a shopping centre on Lonsdale Street to a highway address in the bayside south-east, each shaped by its own suburb.
That spread matters because prestige buying isn't one experience. A CBD studio with weekend trading suits someone fitting a test drive around a work lunch. A dealership with its own service bay and loan-car program suits someone planning to keep the car for years. These five showrooms, each drawn from a different corner of Melbourne, show what that looks like in practice.
Prestige is spread right across the city
Melbourne's prestige dealerships cluster around a handful of strips rather than one. The eastern suburbs around Blackburn and Doncaster carry a mix of Japanese and European luxury brands. The inner south, around Prahran and South Yarra, mixes dealership rooftops in among apartment blocks and cafes. Bayside, along the Nepean Highway, puts European performance brands within a short run of the beach. And the CBD itself now hosts brand studios inside shopping centres, aimed at buyers who want to look without detouring across town. Each of the five below sits in one of those pockets.
Luxury shopping in Melbourne isn't one street. It's a city-wide circuit, from a shopping-centre studio to a bayside highway.
Five showrooms, five different ways to shop prestige
Here's where each one sits, and what its own profile says it's built for.
A hybrid-heavy range with a loan ute thrown in
Lexus of Blackburn · Blackburn, Victoria
Lexus of Blackburn sits on Whitehorse Road in Melbourne's east, with a showroom range running from the compact LBX to the flagship LX and the three-row LM, plus the all-electric RZ. Alongside new cars, it lists certified pre-owned, demonstrator and executive-driven Lexus vehicles with drive-away prices on a separate stock site.
Owners get Lexus Encore benefits plus the dealership's own Encompass program, which includes free short-term use of a ute or roof box and after-hours technician advice. There's a cafe-style customer lounge with free wi-fi, and an on-site service centre covers the full range, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid SUVs.

A few things are worth sorting out before you drive to any of these five. Check whether you're looking at a new order, a demonstrator or a used car; all five list those categories separately online, and a demonstrator usually comes with a sharper price than an equivalent new build. Ask whether finance and insurance run through the maker's own financial services arm, as they do at each of these five, or through a third party.
Confirm hours and stock before you leave home. A couple of these dealerships publish slightly different hours in different places on their own sites, and demonstrator and pre-owned stock can sell within days. A quick call or an online booking saves a wasted trip. If you're trading in, each of the five offers trade-in appraisals, either online or in person.
The bottom line
There's no single Melbourne prestige strip anymore, and that's good news for buyers. A CBD studio suits someone squeezing a look in on a lunch break. A bayside highway address suits someone who wants sales and service in one place. An eastern suburbs showroom with its own loan-ute program suits someone planning ahead for a weekend away. Work out which pattern fits how you actually live, then start with the dealership built around it.
Quick answers
Do I need an appointment to see a prestige car in Melbourne?
Most of these dealerships recommend booking a test drive online before you visit, especially for a demonstrator or a specific model. Their stock pages usually show what's currently on site.
What's the difference between a demonstrator and a new car?
A demonstrator has done some kilometres as a showroom or test-drive car before sale, so it's usually offered at a lower price than an equivalent new order. Several of these dealerships list demo stock separately from new vehicles, so check which you're looking at.
Is finance available at these dealerships?
Yes. Each of the five offers finance through the relevant manufacturer's financial services arm, alongside insurance and, in most cases, leasing. Ask the dealership for current rates and terms.
What warranty applies if I buy a used prestige car in Victoria?
Victoria's statutory warranty covers eligible used cars under 10 years old and under 160,000 km for three months or 5,000 km, whichever comes first. Several of these dealerships also offer their own factory-backed used car programs with longer cover on top of that.
Can I trade in my current car at any of these dealerships?
Yes. All five accept trade-ins, either through an online appraisal request or in person at the dealership.
Do any of these dealerships sell electric or plug-in hybrid models?
All five do. Between them they cover electric and plug-in hybrid SUVs, sedans and performance models, from the entry point of each brand's range to its flagship variants.
